Guy-Favreau complex is a federal government building managed by BGIS. It combines offices, a mall, an atrium, a garden and an underground parking. In 2017, the building was awarded the BOMA BEST® Level Bronze Certification for having achieved every one of BOMA’s best practices in environmental and energy performance and management, contributing to a healthy work environment as well as a reduction of the ecological footprint of the building.
The building, located at 200 René Lévesque Blvd. West Montréal (QC), was built in 1983. It completes a north-south axis comprising 4 buildings: Guy Favreau Complex, Complexe Desjardins, Place des Arts and the Montreal Convention Centre. The main metro stations on this axis are Place d’Armes station on the orange line via the Montreal Convention Centre and Place Des Arts station on the green line via Complexe Desjardins.
With its simple geometric forms, the building has an overall Cubist appearance. The architecture of the Complex blends with the surrounding cityscape by combining the discreet business style expressed on its north side with the Oriental flair found on its south, east and west sides. In this respect, the designers took into account the historical reality of Chinatown, the oldfashioned style of nearby dwellings, and the modern business artery which is René Lévesque Boulevard .
